VenEthos Ensemble

The VenEthos Ensemble was founded in Treviso in 2016 by four musicians who not only share a long-standing friendship but also a common desire to offer new interpretations of the string quartet repertoire of the 18th and 19th centuries on period instruments.

The name of the ensemble refers both to the geographical origin of the quartet’s members and, more specifically, to the great Venetian string tradition from which the musicians come. It gives the group a strong stylistic identity and reflects the ‘Ethos’ of Greek philosophy, which gave birth to the theory of music’s influence on the human psyche and emotions.

The VenEthos Ensemble performs for prestigious music societies in Italy and abroad, and has played alongside great artists such as Enrico Bronzi, Andrea Marcon and Giuliano Carmignola. Since 2022, the quartet has been a member of the ‘European Mozart Ways’ cultural network.

Its recording ‘Mozart: The Milanese Quartets – Lodi Quartet’ published by Arcana – Outhere Music was immediately received with great enthusiasm by the critics and was awarded the ‘Diapason découverte’ by the prestigious French magazine DIAPASON.

The VenEthos Ensemble plays on instruments by the violinmaker Franco Simeoni.
